UK Web Hosting Reviews

1 & 1 Internet Ltd. UK

1&1 is a huge presence in the UK web hosting market. In fact, it is pretty huge worldwide, particularly in the UK, Germany and the US. The popularity of the service delivers certain advantages, for example the prices are good, and there is a 24/7 support hotline, which is pretty rare and pretty special.  On the downside, it perhaps isn’t the greenest UK web hosting company on the market. Visit 1&1 Domains now for some unbeatable prices.

Aplus.Net

Aplus.Net offer a comprehensive set of services and hosting solutions. They are not quite as large as some equivalent hosts, however they pack a pretty neat punch for their size. They offer a good range of services, from logo design to hosting to web design. They are not a UK hosts, however they are available worldwide. Bear that in mind before you ring their 24/7 support number. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR SOME MORE INFO.

Atlantic.Net

Back in 2008 the Atlantic.Net data centre went offline for about 8 hours. This gives you some indication to the reliability of the hosting company. Ok, that’s not quite fair, that, in internet terms, was ages ago. Again a US company, so bear that in mind if you’re looking for dedicated UK webhosting support. However, they offer a neat little service. They are particularly good on cloud computing, which is great, as this looks set to central in the next incarnation of the internet. BigCommerce

BigCommerce is more shopping card software, so not technically a UK web hosting company, although if you’re looking for e-commerce it’s a great and viable option. You can get a no commitment  free trial, so it’s definitely worth dabbling, and having a little play around with the functionality. I have done, and it’s pretty good with a good range of options for online shops. One of my favourite things about BigCommerce is the attention to detail, and you can create decent options for your shoppers. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO.

BlueHost

Bluehost is pretty good. It’s a US hosting company, as opposed to UK, and there is no obvious support for those who aren’t native US. This of course is a pretty formidable drawback, however besides this the prices are good, and for a smaller hosting company there are a good range of services. The best thing about the hosting company (and something from which some others could learn) is that you can demo their cpanel on their website. This is pretty cool, and very helpful. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO.

Cool Handle

Comparatively speaking, there is relatively little information negative or otherwise on cool handle, however we’ve tested their web hosting and its OK. You won’t find anything new here, and the prices aren’t as cheap as some other cheap UK hosts, however there are a good range of services and also cloud computing solutions, “Cloud Flare.”  Aware that this is a US company, rather than a UK hosts. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON COOL HANDLE.

CoreCommerce

Some more ecommerce software now. CoreCommerce is a lot like BigCommerce, but there are clear differences. On the positive side (and this is a big positive) it is easy to collude with your social media pages with CoreCommerce. Social media and ecommerce can work wonderfully together, so this is a great advantage. On the downside, there is a surprising limitation on the number of products you can display. Easyspace

Easyspace is a hosting company that operates in the UK, and has a UK specific webpage. So, there is greater clarity in regards to price than some other options. It offers pretty simply hosting solutions, but this is kind of the point. It’s arguably a bit easier to use than some alternatives, so if that appeals then it might be a viable option for you. You’ll find all the ecommerce and web design features that you’d expect plus, helpfully, a UK specific support number. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT EASYSPACE.

Eleven2.com

Eleven2.com’s motto is Hosting, Done Right. It is a US company, with no support phone number for the UK. However, as far as hosting services go it’s pretty good. The website is nice and minimalist (relatively) and there is a clear focus on usability and intuitiveness. It has a couple of USPs, for instance it offers optional Google hosting for your e-mail. For lots of us (we included) the big G is hard to resist, so this might appeal. Otherwise there are cloud services, reseller hosting and the usual. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO.

Fastdomain

Fastdomain is a nice little service. It’s website is very simply, borderline amateur, however this belies the quality of the service, which is actually pretty good. Uniquely, and helpfully, the website offers you the chance to preview the cPanel functionality. I’ve done this and it’s pretty good, and not too cluttered, which is the case with some larger hosting companies. I like how you can easily search for functions. Again it’s a US company, so don’t expect much by way of worldwide support.  PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Fasthsots

Fasthosts are a great UK web hosting company. They specialize in reseller hosting, and are pretty good at what they do. HostRocket

HostRocket is a US company and was founded in 1999, which is a pretty decent lifespan all things considered. They are not as big as some others, like 1&1 or Godaddy, however they do have some things going for them. They are very innovative, and, for example, they have a rollover bandwidth feature, which means that any bandwidth that you don’t use can be “rolled over” for the next month.             PLEASE CLICK HERE TO READ MORE.

They offer everything you’d expect from a good hosting company, from good uptime guarantees to web developer tools. They also have their own private data centre, which is always a good thing. Nethosting.com

One of the greatest and innovative things about nethosting, com is its great support network. However, considering that it is a US based site, so none of these support features will be available to us in the UK, this isn’t so great. The service boats dedicated hosting, cloud hosting, app hosting and dedicated experts so it is a nice meaty service, and we’ve found it to be intuitive and particularly cutting edge. We especially like the dedicated expert, it made us feel a bit special. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO.
